MissionBay.Church is a collective of people in San Francisco centering their lives around the words of Jesus. Simply put, we take a serious look at the Bible to see how these words can impact us living in the twenty-first century. We invite you to come check us out, and who knows…you might just find yourself in good company!

What can I expect when I visit Mission Bay Church?

Our gatherings are very casual. As people arrive, they usually head to the kitchen first for a cup of coffee and a bagel. At 10:30am we start with a couple of songs, then children ages 4-9 are invited to attend Mission Kidz at the back of the house. They have a Bible lesson. They also play games and make crafts that go along with the virtue they are learning. While the kids are doing their thing, Pastor Joel speaks on a topic from the Bible for about thirty minutes.

We gather at 10:30am Sundays @ 620 Pennsylvania Ave, San Francisco, CA 94107

Mission Kidz is created for children ages 4-9 and meets on Sundays from 10:30am-12pm. Parents will see that their children are learning good character through the virtue of the month, but as a child sees it they are embarking on an exciting adventure designed just for them!

Joel & Holly Slater

Lead Pastor

Joel has served in vocational ministry at Expectation Church for over ten years, and Holly grew up in a ministry family. Both have spent much of their lives developing a skill-set for ministry and church-planting. Joel has grown up in ministry at Fair Oaks Church under the leadership of David R. Stokes, beginning as a night janitor his role as a church worker changed and progressed organically as God worked in his life. He believed God had called him to be a pastor and was ordained in March of 2013, and he finished his religious studies at Liberty University shortly thereafter. At that time he began to give serious consideration to where and when he might be used to plant a new church. Joel has been gifted with a visionary spirit and a desire to plant a church for a long time.

Holly has served as a church administrative assistant for three years and will continue in this capacity at MissionBay.Church. Joel and Holly have three boys under age five, and they are excited to bring up their family in a community that is on the cutting edge of technology and culture. They see it as a thriving community but void when it comes to the light of the Gospel. They desire to live in their new community in such a way that their new friends and neighbors want to know Christ too. Pray that God will make a way for them to communicate the truth of Christ in a way that those in their new city will come to understand one by one for many years to come.
